Need a recipe to make healthy homemade dog food for 2 small sized dogs! Actual FOOD recipes, no treats!?

Anyone know how to make HEALTHY homemade dog food?

I know that certain things that people eat are NOT good for dogs. But the ingredients in dog's food has got to come from somewhere and I would prefer I KNEW where it all comes from...most of which can be obtained by ANYBODY I would imagine! I am pretty sure I can get around using horse hooves and still feed my dogs something that is safe and nutritious! Sorry~just pre-fighting off the naysayers who would have been bound to deride me for feeding my dog something it shouldn't be eating because I certainly wouldn't waste my time cooking for my dog if I was making it something that was worse for it than the food I can buy in less than 2 min. at the store! THANKS FOR THE ADVICE!!!!!!Need a recipe to make healthy homemade dog food for 2 small sized dogs! Actual FOOD recipes, no treats!?
You're right, the crap they put in commercial dog food is horrid. My friend adopted a dog, Ziggy, and when she started feeding him steamed white rice and meat everyday his coat became noticeably shinier. I wish more people were more like you and took better care of their pets. There is a link to some homemade pet food advice below. California Natural would be my choice. All good stuff! If cost is not an issue, I would feed CN or a raw diet, both of which are available at most fine pet stores. By no means attempt to feed raw meats that are not intended for pet feeding.

Best Wishes!

I have a small dog that can mot eat commercial made food. Something in it makes him very sick. I have been making his food for 7 yrs. and he has not been sick since. I feed chicken, barley, green beans, carrots and zucchini in balanced portions of 1/3 of each protein, grain and veggie. Report Abuse

There's actually a lot of good dog food out there. My friend use to work for a company that makes moist cat and dog food. They put all fresh ingredients in it as well as added vitamins and protein. He said that the food is even good for us to eat. They put really nice cuts of meat in it. One of the brands they make is Purina.
You may find the recipe from this website which I'd recently bought it from:
