Help Me, Family Is Unhealthy And I'm Trying To Change That?[Looking For Healthy Foods&&Recipes?]?

Hi, I'm 11[almost 12] and my family is overweight, except for my brother. I feel that he is a bit underweight. I was helping my mom with the dishes and I went to go get dishes out of his room[hes a World Of War Craft geek] and I found these weight loss pills beside his vitamins[ my parents already knew he took vitamins but they were a bit worried when i told them about the weight loss pills.] You see, my brother is 21 years old, he is 5'10 and he weighs only 185lbs. My dad is shorter than my brother by about an inch or two, or hes taller by an inch or two, and he weighs around 240lbs. I'm only 5'5 and I weigh 153lbs, so I'm kind of worried about him. Well anyways, my family is overweight. The lightest person is my sister, and shes 14 and weighs 148lbs, and shes the same height as me. I recently took a stand and threw away all the bags of chips and poured out all the soda[it wasn't that much soda, probably 1/12 of a Mountain Dew.] My mom agreed that we needed to be healthier, so shes letting me help her buy groceries this week. What are some healthy foods that we can have[besides fruit, we already know that] and what are some healthy dishes my mom can make. I'd really appreciate if you could help! Thx in advanceHelp Me, Family Is Unhealthy And I'm Trying To Change That?[Looking For Healthy Foods%26amp;%26amp;Recipes?]?

Good for you girl!!!

It is really easy to change your lifestyle

Get all the junk food out

Buy plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables!

There are plenty of alternatives to your favorite meals.

Say if you like chicken parmesan you can make it healthy by not breading it or frying it but using chicken cutlets and cooking them in a skillet and pour sauce over them (marinara sauce) and on the side you can bake zuchini and summer squash. It is really good.

If you like chili, sloppy joes, meatballs, lasagna, hamburgers, meatloaf, tacos, whatever ground beef dish substitute it with ground turkey! It tastes the same when mixed with the same seasonings as you would do the ground beef. It is delicious. And you are cutting off 1/2 the fat

Replacing dessert with fresh fruit (melons are so sweet and low in fat and calories! They are really delicious!) Anytime you have a sweet tooth you know what to get

Ok....breakfast-you can have a bowl of fresh fruit, a slice of whole wheat toast with one scrambled egg (if you want to make the egg healthier you can use the egg whites instead of the yolk!) with fresh fruit, cheerios (plain cheerios girl!), etc.

Lunch: Throw out all your white bread products and replace them with whole grain wheat products (they taste the same and i believe the whole wheat is more satisfying and healthier) get whole wheat sliced bread, buns (if you are making something requiring buns like sloppy joes or hamburgers (turkey burgers remember), and whole wheat tortillas (for tacos or wraps) you can make a lighter and healthier sandwhich with whatever you like but instead of the thick bread you can use a whole wheat flour tortilla and wrap it up. It is only 80 calories and has 12 grams of fiber and little fat.

Stay active. Maybe walk around more or join the gym. You don't have to run a mile every week to stay healthy, you can just stay active and moving throughout the day.
